"I once asked a bird, how is it that you fly in this gravity of darkness? The bird responded, 'Love lifts me.” - Hafiz.
LINEAGE AND STYLE I took my first yoga class in the mid 90’s: it was love at first Savasana. That day, yoga planted a tiny seed that developed deeper roots, slowly but steadily blooming over 20 years of practice exploring various styles including Anusara, Iyengar, Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Kundalini. I have been lucky enough to land at the feet of SO many amazing teachers. I was honored to study with the iconoclastic Kelly Morris graduating from her Conquering Lion Yoga Teacher Training with my YA certification 300 hours RYT. I completed my prenatal training at Lila Yoga and Wellness Center with one of NYC top prenatal teachers, Mia Borgata and with the holistic midwife and ob-gyn, Dr. Eden Fromberg. I completed my birth work education and certification as a hollistic doula with the legendary Whapio of The Matrona.
I am also a certified Reiki 2 practitioner, having been attuned and studied with Reiki Master Christine Hier, and with lightworker and Reiki Master Allanah Luna, all in the lineage of Mikao Usui. I'm an advocate of the power of energy healing modalities and alternative medicine as a compliment to traditional medicine and I'm part of the wellness staff at Community Health Network of New York, where I teach yoga, meditation and provide my services as a Reiki practitioner
I've taught at studios throughout NYC including, Upper West Side Yoga, Devi Yoga Studio, Bread and Yoga and Mind Body Soul Yoga, Lila Yoga and Wellness and more recently in Westchester at Tovami Yoga, and am a teacher and the Program Director of Prana Prenatal Yoga in Harrison, NY.
I believe in a dedicated meditation practice and that yoga is a powerful tool for self exploration, which we can use to cultivate healing, tranformation, freedom, peace and joy.
As a Dominican-American, I am passionate about teaching yoga in Spanish, and making the yoga community more inclusive and broader in it’s diversity. In the spirit of that pursuit, I teach bilingual and Spanish classes by donation and volunteer with various organizations in the city.
My private offerings are tailored to the student's individual needs ranging from beginner to advanced, and for the pre-natal and post partum-student.
OFF THE MAT When not practicing or teaching, you might find me cuddling with my cat, Harrietta, reading a good book or watching Golden Girls re-runs and eating popcorn and ice cream. On warmer Summer days you might bump into me near the ocean, basking in the feel of the sun on my skin and the sand in my toes. Or we may cross paths on a crisp Fall or Spring afternoon walk under the magical foliage at Fort Tryon park. Or perhaps some rare and inspired moon lit evening at a local spot that plays good music, we might laugh, sing and dance our hearts out.
